Hormone replacement therapy is something that my doctor and I have discussed for a few years now. I was in my late 30s when I started to experience symptoms that fit into the category of perimenopause. While those symptoms were tolerable early on and didn’t occur all that frequently, they only became more prevalent as the years went on. I tried reaching out to my doctor a few months ago when my symptoms were really becoming a problem. I also noticed there was a shift in the health of my skin and hair. Vaginal health was changing as well. After being unable to secure a timely appointment, I started looking into online support.

I tried Midi Health as a way to access perimenopause HRT treatment. The program is covered by insurance, and you get very thorough support from a board-certified medical professional who ensures you’re being prescribed the right treatment. I felt like I was in good hands throughout my entire experience with Midi Health.

Let’s talk more about what you can expect from your experience with Midi Health, including how to sign up, what the process is like and the kinds of treatment options that are available. I’m also going to share with you some other options to consider if Midi Health doesn’t seem like a good fit for you.

How I Found Midi Health

I came across Midi Health after my perimenopause symptoms started to take over my life. Mood swings, anxiety and hot flashes were becoming an almost daily occurrence. After trying to schedule an appointment with my doctor and finding out if it would take weeks to see him, I opted to look into telehealth options. My Midi Health experience was positive from the moment I signed up. It doesn’t take long to sign up, and before you know it, you’re scheduling your first appointment.

I’ve come across a number of HRT-focused online companies in the past few years. While they all offer similar estrogen- and progesterone-focused products, their business models tend to vary a bit. Midi Health is one of the more thorough companies that I’ve come across. They go to great lengths to make sure that you’re healthy, that you’re receiving a safe and beneficial prescription, and they offer ongoing support if you have any questions. I reached out a few times to ask questions about the product I was using. I received prompt responses and felt like the team actually cared about me as a client.

How I Got Started

I got started with signing up for Midi Health by clicking on the “Book Your First Visit” button. I was directed to enter some personal information about myself, including the basics about who I am and how to contact me. I had to fill out what my perimenopause symptoms are, any medical issues that I’ve experienced recently and any prescription medications or supplements that I have been using. I also had to fill out my health insurance information.

Once I clicked all the necessary boxes and included my personal information, I was directed to a page where I could schedule my telehealth appointment with one of the doctors from the Midi Health team. The appointments were in the very near future, so don’t expect to wait weeks to speak with someone. I picked an appointment about four days from the time of signing up, which was what fit into my schedule. There were earlier appointments available as well.

My call with a medical professional from Midi was very straightforward and didn’t take very long. However, I felt the doctor was very thorough and had reviewed my information before speaking with me. We had a brief discussion about what I was experiencing, and we talked about the different HRT options that were available.

My Prescription Medication

Midi Health offers a very vast selection of HRT options compared to some of the other telehealth companies that I’ve reviewed. Some of their options include:

  • Estriol+ Face Cream
  • Hydroquinone Cream
  • Minoxidil/Finasteride Hair Regrowth Spray
  • DHEA/Estradiol Cream
  • Arousal Cream

They also offer brand-name HRT options, such as:

  • Gabapentin
  • Effexor
  • Elavil
  • Vyleesi

I personally received a prescription for DHEA/Estradiol Cream. The price is $90 for a 30-day supply. This product is designed to rejuvenate the tissue in the vulvar region as well as support libido.

Results and Relief

It can take a few weeks to see results from an estrogen-based cream, but I saw relief very quickly. I would say there was a shift in my comfort level and lubrication within 10 days. What I liked about Midi Health’s DHEA/Estradiol Cream is that it can be used along with other systemic HRT options. I was looking into taking an oral medication as well, so it was nice to know I wouldn’t have to stop my topical application.

This product was pretty affordable, especially with assistance from my health insurance company. I found it lasted me a little less than one month, though. The process of obtaining my prescription was relatively simple and fast.

With the goal of being able to treat all symptoms of menopause and help women feel like themselves again, Alloy offers HRT therapies that are evidence-based. A three-minute assessment is all it took me to get started. The information I provided resulted in recommendations for certain prescriptions. I had the option of speaking with a medical professional from the Alloy team prior to getting started. It’s nice to have these options based on whether you’re looking for fast HRT or you want to be thorough with your decisions. Alloy sent my prescription right to my door within the week.

Would I Recommend Midi Health to a Friend?

I would highly recommend that a friend look into Midi Health. When dealing with hormone issues of any kind, it’s very overwhelming to try and come up with some sort of plan for how to feel better. I personally felt like Midi Health makes it very easy to speak with someone about your symptoms and figure out the best plan of action.

However, I also recommend that you look into Winona Health. Their program is very thorough and secure, and their team really comes across as wanting to help you. The Winona products that I was prescribed didn’t take very long to work. I also feel like the team was very accurate regarding what HRT I would benefit from.
