GLP-1 agonists were originally designed as a treatment for people with type 2 diabetes. It wasn’t until a few years ago that these medications started being used for weight-loss purposes. If you don’t want to wait for an appointment with your primary care physician to ask about the use of GLP-1 medications, there are a number of companies that are offering support online.

In this review, I’m going to talk about the details of LifeMD. This company connects you with a board-certified provider that can help you determine which weight-loss medication is right for you.

lifemd before and after weight loss

LifeMD provides a 360-degree approach to weight loss and weight management by way of GLP-1 medications, medical lab testing and support from experienced clinicians. They are a legit company that has been around since 2017 and is located in New York City.

What Types of Weight Loss Medication Does LifeMD Prescribe?

LifeMD can recommend and prescribe popular off-label GLP-1 medications such as semaglutide, liraglutide, dulaglutide and tirzepatide. Each of these medications works a bit differently. The information that you provide in your initial assessment will help your provider determine which option is best for you. LifeMD also recommends that you utilize calorie counting and exercise along with your medication.

How to Get a Prescription for Semaglutide From LifeMD

By filling out a confidential questionnaire, the medical team at LifeMD will be able to review your weight-loss goals and health history. You will receive a recommendation for one of the GLP-1 medications that LifeMD offers through their website. If you agree to the medication, you can choose to have your semaglutide prescription (or other medication script) sent directly to your local pharmacy or have your medication shipped to you.

How Much Does LifeMD Weight Loss Cost?

The LifeMD Weight Management Program costs $129 per month. This fee includes access to GLP-1 medications, medical lab testing and expert knowledge from leading clinicians that will ensure you’re on the right path to losing weight.

Does the Cost Include Medication?

The cost of your medication is not included in the program price. That will be an additional fee that will vary based on the drug chosen.

My Experience With LifeMD

before and after lifemd weight loss

I found that LifeMD provides a very simple process for signing up and getting approved for GLP-1 weight loss medication. I signed up for their program shortly after I had my second child. It was a lot harder trying to lose that baby weight the second time around, and the pounds just weren’t coming off quickly enough. Diet and exercise are two things that I always turn to, but I didn’t feel like they were effective enough.

It took me under 10 minutes to sign up for LifeMD, enter my information and complete the initial questionnaire. I received a prompt response, and it didn’t take long at all to receive my recommendation for medication (semaglutide).

I opted to have my prescription sent to my local pharmacy, which is only a few minutes from where I live. You can also have your medication sent to your home if that’s more convenient, but it will take a few more days.

I started taking semaglutide, which is a once-weekly injection under the skin. The first week, I noticed a little bit of GI upset, but I have a sensitive stomach as it is. I focused on my diet and exercise routine as I waited for the medication to take effect. The first month of taking semaglutide resulted in about a 2.5% loss of body weight. It’s advertised that you can lose as much as 5% of your body weight during the first month, but my results weren’t that impressive. I continued to lose a little more weight each week that I used my medication.

I didn’t stay on semaglutide for very long. It was probably about eight weeks before I decided that I had lost enough weight and wanted to go back to maintaining. My experience with LifeMD was short-lived, but it was a positive experience overall.

Are There Any Complaints From the LifeMD Weight Loss Program?

There are a few complaints on the Better Business Bureau website for LifeMD, but the issues generally have to do with people not qualifying for medication or not understanding what the final cost would be. However, the GLP-1 medications that LifeMD provides have a lot of positive reviews.

How Much Weight Can You Lose With LifeMD?

The amount of weight that you can lose with LifeMD varies based on the medication that you’re using. Your results will also depend on the dietary changes that you’ve made as well as your lifestyle. LifeMD advertises on their website that you can lose 15% of your body weight with their program.

Is LifeMD Safe?

LifeMD is a very safe program. I encourage you to be honest when you fill out your questionnaire. Obviously, you want to qualify for weight loss medication if you’re signing up for this program, but there may be medical issues that could affect how safe it is for you to use LifeMD and GLP-1 medications. It’s best to leave the decision up to the LifeMD medical team.

Final Thoughts

GLP-1 medications have shown a great deal of promise for weight loss, despite being originally created for patients with type 2 diabetes. If you qualify for one of these medications and are ready to focus on your diet and exercise routine, you can achieve some pretty impressive results. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to do more than just take your medication. As with any successful weight-loss program, it’s about changing how you live your life.

My Recommendation

I recommend that you go through the initial sign-up process and complete the questionnaire for LifeMD. You will be contacted by the company regarding receiving approval, so you can find out if you qualify for one of their GLP-1 medications. If you have any questions, you can speak with the LifeMD team before purchasing any products.

You have the ability to cancel your prescription at any time. However, you won’t receive a refund for your initial sign-up fee if you decide that you’re done with the program.
