What Is FuturHealth Weight Loss Medication?

FuturHealth provides fast access to many popular, tried-and-true GLP-1 weight-loss medications. This includes Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. You have some input regarding what you are interested in trying, but ultimately you will receive a professional recommendation from the FuturHealth medical professional that you’re working with. They consider how much weight you’re looking to lose, what you’ve tried in the past and any medical issues that you’re dealing with.

Many weight-loss medications that are being prescribed by FuturHealth (and other similar companies) have been created for people with type 2 diabetes. However, the effect that these medications have on insulin production can result in increased satiety, less cravings, etc. The side effect is substantial weight loss.

Weight Loss Medications That FuturHealth Offers

There are different options available for weight-loss medication through FuturHealth. This includes:

Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 medication that was created for patients with type 2 diabetes. It is the main ingredient in different name-brand drugs such as WegovyOzempic, and Rybelsus. Semaglutide mimics the GLP-1 hormone, which is released by the body naturally after a person eats. When you increase the amount in your body, this can make you feel full for longer periods of time.

The qualifications for being prescribed Semaglutide include having a body mass index (BMI) of 27 kg/m2 or greater while dealing with a diagnosed health condition that is caused by your weight or having a BMI of 30 kg/m2 or greater. Semaglutide is injected into the body once per week for four weeks at a time.

Tirzepatide (Zepbound)

Like Semaglutide, Tirzepatide is also a GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist that is used for weight loss. Its main benefits are decreasing the appetite and slowing down the movement of food in your stomach and GI tract. By increasing your satiety, you may experience weight loss. Also known by the brand name Zepbound, Tirzepatide is used once per week by injection.

My Experience Taking Taking the FuturHealth Quiz

FuturHealth’s quiz is very straightforward and takes 5-7 minutes to complete. Once you take the quiz, FuturHealth has everything they need to know for you to get started.

The first question asks if you would like to lose weight, gain weight or maintain current body weight. Next, you’ll be asked if you are male or female, followed by your date of birth, the state you live in, your body shape, height, weight, and some health related questions. Take a look at some of the screenshots I took while taking the quiz:

And when I completed the quiz, I was approved for the medication (see image below).

The Telehealth Visit for Tirzepatide (Zepbound)

When you first sign up for FuturHealth, you’ll be asked to fill out some personal information, including details about your current weight-loss plan and what you hope to accomplish with the help of medication. You will then be able to schedule a telehealth call with a board-certified physician that is part of the FuturHealth team. During this call, expect to discuss your current state of health (that’s why it’s always a good idea to keep up with your routine physical), any medications that you’re currently taking and what you hope to accomplish during your weight-loss journey.

The provider that you’re working with will provide you with a recommendation for a weight-loss medication. This could be Semaglutide, Tirzepatide or something else. While many of these medications fall into the same category of drugs, they can provide slightly different results and have different side effects. If you have any concerns, your telehealth call is the time to bring them up. You can also ask any questions that you have about the process of using a weight-loss drug.

How Much Does FuturHealth Cost?

FuturHealth costs $129.99 per month. This price includes your initial telehealth appointment with a board-certified medical doctor as well as the prescription that is written for you. However, the price of your medication is not included. That cost may vary based on demand, whether you have your medication sent to you through FuturHealth or source your medication at a pharmacy that is local to you.

Receiving the Prescription

Once it has been determined which weight-loss medication you qualify for and are being prescribed, you will be given the option to have your medication shipped directly to your door or have your script sent to a pharmacy near you. If you’re looking for optimal convenience, wait a few days to have it shipped to your door. If you need to get started with your weight-loss medication right away, pick it up at your convenience.

Weight Loss Results After a Month

Results will vary from one person to the next, but FuturHealth reports that you can lose up to 1.5% of your body weight each week that you’re using your weight-loss medication. There is a sliding scale on the FuturHealth website that can help you determine how much weight you personally can lose. Of course, your diet and exercise routine will also contribute to your results. It’s a good idea to follow the diet recommendations that FuturHealth made, as well as keep up with regular physical activity.

Other Medical Weight Loss Programs That Are Out There

FuturHealth isn’t the only medical weight-loss program that’s out there. Some of the others that we recommend to our patients include:

LifeMD

LifeMD is a great telehealth program that provides access to GLP-1 medications as well as medical lab testing and access to board-certified medical professionals. They focus on providing GLP-1 medications such as Semaglutide, Liraglutide, Tirzepatide and Dulaglutide to patients. You must provide some initial information as part of the LifeMD questionnaire, and this information will help your provider determine which medication option is ideal for your situation. LifeMD can ship your medication discreetly to your door, or you can head to your local pharmacy.

SkinnyRx

Another GLP-1-focused medical weight-loss company, SkinnyRx has a very fast sign-up process that helps the brand’s team get to the bottom of why you’re not losing weight. They will provide you with a prescription for a weekly, injectable medication that can help you achieve the weight-loss goals that you discussed during your telehealth call. You can have your SkinnyRx prescription sent to your local pharmacy for fast access, or you can have your medication periodically shipped to your doorstep. SkinnyRx mainly focuses on Semaglutide as their main medication.

ReflexMD

ReflexMD offers Semaglutide to people using their platform. The company mentions the high demand for weight-loss medications like Semaglutide, boasting that they can provide fast and reliable access to this drug. Your initial medical intake form will be reviewed by the ReflexMD medical team. If they determine that you qualify, you will be asked to set up a telehealth call with a board-certified medical professional that works with ReflexMD. Once approved, your medication will be shipped to your door once per month. Slightly different from other weight-loss companies, you will need to send Reflex MD a full-body photo. This is to show your current weight and keep track of your progress moving forward.

Do We Recommend FuturHealth for Weight Loss?

We see a lot of patients come through our practice that meet the criteria for being labeled as overweight or obese. This diagnosis can impact your self-esteem, but it can also cause several health problems. This includes a higher risk of stroke or heart attack, an increased risk of diabetes and sleep apnea.

We recommend that you bring your weight to a healthier level. However, it’s important that you go about this process in a healthy manner. It’s not a good idea to skip meals, over-exert yourself with extreme exercise or obsess over calorie counting. By adopting a healthy diet and lifestyle and considering weight-loss medication as a complement to these choices, we’re confident that you can bring your weight back under control in a short amount of time. FuturHealth is a great option for fast and accessible weight-loss medication, as are the other medical weight-loss companies that are mentioned in this article.
