A healthy fat that can positively contribute to things like heart health and cellular function, Omega 3 can be found in foods like fish and flax seeds. Unfortunately, it’s hard to source Omega 3 from diet alone, which is why many people are choosing supplements as another option.

There are a ton of Omega 3 supplements in stores and online. I’m here to tell you about one really excellent product that I’ve tried myself: Ritual’s Omega 3. Let’s get all the hot takes on this product as well as what it contains, what I thought and some alternatives to consider.

Ritual Omega-3

The Hot Takes

  • Each dose contains 500mg of Omega 3.
  • Made with a 2:1 ratio of DHA to EPA.
  • Citrus-essenced so you don’t experience any bad aftertaste.
  • Made with traceable ingredients.
  • Third-party testing is used to look for heavy metals or other contaminants, like microbes.
  • Free from major allergens

Other Omega 3 Supplements to Consider

There are a lot of Omega 3 supplements available. Here are some of my other top choices:

1st Phorm Full Mega

1st Phorm’s Full Mega contains 2500mg of Omega 3 concentrate with EPA and DHA from cold water fish (mackerel, herring, anchovies and sardines). Sustainable fishing methods are used to obtain fish for this supplement, along with green technology, for a potent and pure supplement. This “brain food” supplement can provide anti-inflammatory benefits as well as support the heart and brain.

Fatty15

This award-winning fatty acid supplement is scientifically formulated and contains a C15:0 powder called FA15. The brand advertises that their product provides three times the number of benefits that you would get from an Omega 3 supplement alone. Fatty15 provides cellular benefits such as stronger cells and faster cell repair.

My Ritual Omega 3 Review and Experience

holding ritual omega-3

After looking at a few different Omega 3 supplements and doing my research on this powerful nutrient, I chose to purchase Ritual Omega 3. I’ve used Ritual’s supplements in the past and really like the quality that this company stands by. The 2:1 ratio of DHA to EPA is important, because studies have shown that this ratio can lead to better results. I also like that they naturally essence their supplement, so it doesn’t have any aftertaste or funky burp taste.

I started taking my Omega 3 supplement with my lunch. It’s recommended that this type of product be taken with a large meal that contains dietary fat. I usually have a big salad for lunch with dressing and avocado, so I figured this was the perfect time. I didn’t notice that it upset my stomach or anything. I didn’t experience any kind of reflux or burps from it, which can be common with fish oil supplements.

It can take weeks to months to see benefits from taking Omega 3. It starts to build up quickly, though, and I feel like I experienced some anti-inflammatory benefits within the first couple of weeks. Inflammation after working out was becoming a problem for me, and this was the perfect solution.

Purchasing From Ritual

Ritual is a very high-quality supplement brand that goes to great lengths when formulating their products. They’re free of fillers and artificial ingredients that you don’t want in something you’re taking daily. Also, they use third-party testing to ensure that there isn’t any contamination from microbes or heavy metals. All of their ingredients are ethically sourced.

When Did I Take Ritual Omega 3?

I started taking Ritual Omega 3 last year after I spoke with my doctor about its potential benefits. I took it during lunch for the most part but would sometimes take it with dinner if I had forgotten about it. You’re supposed to take it with a large meal.

What Type of Benefits Did I Notice?

Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits are two of the most common results that come with the ongoing use of Omega 3. I noticed a significant change in my inflammation level throughout my body. Because of hormones, I was experiencing quite a bit of inflammation after working out. I had no interest in switching my routine or becoming more sedentary, so Omega 3 was a great way to reduce that inflammation naturally.

Would I Recommend It to a Friend?

I have recommended Ritual Omega 3 as well as this brand’s other supplements to a number of my friends. It’s such a gentle supplement that everyone can benefit from. It’s estimated that more than 68 percent of adults are deficient in Omega 3 due to not consuming enough fish in their diet. There are generally no side effects experienced when taking Omega 3, so I recommend everyone try it out (unless you have an allergy that impacts your ability to take a fish oil supplement).

What Is Ritual Omega 3?

Ritual Omega 3 provides 500mg of vegan-based Omega 3 in each serving. With a 2:1 ratio of DHA to EPA, this supplement is potent and provides excellent results. It has a mild citrus flavor that eliminates a funky taste or aftertaste. This product is made from microalgae, so it’s very natural and vegan-friendly. It’s also very bioavailable, enhancing its absorption rate.

What I like about Ritual is the transparency that they bring to the table. Their website is very informative. For example, their Omega 3 supplement description features information on what ingredients are in this product, where they are sourced, who the supplier is and so much more. This isn’t a brand that’s hiding anything from its clientele, and I appreciate that.

What Are All the Ingredients?

Ritual Omega 3 contains:

  • 500mg of Omega 3 fatty acids
  • This breaks down to 154mg EPA and 308mg DHA.
  • Natural orange oil
  • Mixed tocopherols
  • Silica
  • Vegan capsule design

This may seem like a really simple formula, but that’s how I want my supplements to be. I’m not looking for fillers, artificial flavors, colors, sugar, etc. Ritual provides you with the purest form of Omega 3 that they could come up with, and that’s pretty much it.

Is Ritual Omega-3 Third-Party Tested?

Ritual uses third-party testing for all of their products. The thoroughness of this process is used to ensure that you’re getting a pure and safe supplement with every batch.

Also, Ritual is very diligent about the ingredients that they use for their products. They believe strongly in the traceability of ingredients. Top scientists are part of the Ritual team, and they search the world for the best ingredients they can get their hands on. You can even view the certificate of traceability for every product that Ritual has on their website.

How Much Does It Cost?

Ritual currently charges $33 for one bottle of Omega 3. At the time of writing this review, the price was marked down to $26.40.

You can find this product on other retail sites, including Amazon. However, the price tends to be about the same. I save myself the trouble of having to shop around, and I buy directly from Ritual whenever I need to refill my supplements.

Ritual occasionally runs some deals on bundles or purchases, but there isn’t currently a subscription service or discount available like many other brands offer.

Final Thoughts

I think Omega 3 is a supplement that so many people don’t know much about. However, it’s a product that I think almost everyone should be incorporating into their routine. There are so many benefits that come from Omega 3. Unfortunately, we’re typically not getting enough from diet alone. Even with an occasional serving of fish a few times per week, deficiency is very common.

It’s been quite awhile since I first started taking Omega 3 on a nearly daily basis. I’ve seen improvement with my yearly blood work numbers in addition to a shift in how I feel as well. I’ve even tried other brands of Omega 3, and I always come back to Ritual’s version. I encourage you to take a look at this product on the Ritual website to see what you think.
