Vaginal dryness is a symptom that not many of us women like to talk about, but it has a profound impact on our health and wellbeing. When we experience vaginal dryness, either all the time or intermittently, this can negatively affect our sex life, cause irritation and disrupt the balance of our vaginal microbiome, which leads to more yeast infections. Some women experience vaginal dryness at various points of their menstrual cycle, but there are other women who have this come on during perimenopause or menopause.

What can we do to replenish vaginal moisture and feel healthy again? Let’s discuss two products that I think you’re going to find interesting: Revaree and Replens. Let’s talk about what’s in them, what you can expect from their use and where you can get them. What are we waiting for? Let’s get started talking about Revaree and Replens vaginal moisturizers!

Key Aspects

  • Revaree is made using the natural ingredient hyaluronic acid. It helps the vaginal tissue retain moisture.
  • Revaree is a bit more expensive compared to Replens, but I like the formula better.
  • There aren’t really any side effects reported for Revaree. It shouldn’t cause any irritation or burning, even at first.
  • Replens only must be applied once every few days and does not come in capsule form.
  • Replens lasts longer because of its unique bioadhesive formula.
  • Replens also addresses moisture-related issues like irritation and pain during intercourse.

Choose Revaree if…

  • You want a product with a more natural formula that doesn’t contain hormones.
  • You want to achieve long-lasting results over a more long-term basis.

What Is Revaree?

bonafide revaree inserts

Revaree from the brand Bonafide naturally addresses the dryness and irritation that can come with perimenopause, menopause or just typical fluctuations in a woman’s cycle. Dryness is something that can lead to burning and pain during sexual intercourse, but Revaree uses hyaluronic acid to help the tissue in the vagina retain more moisture naturally. By improving this natural barrier, the vagina will feel better and become more balanced over time.

Revaree is approved by the FDA as a Class II medical device. Having been successfully used by more than one million women across over 40 different countries, this is a product that is very reliable and trustworthy. It’s completely free of hormones, so it can be used with other HRT and over-the-counter products. Your FSA and HSA accounts can be used to purchase Revaree, as long as the criterion of your individual plan allows for it.

What's in the Formula?

Bonafide’s Revaree contains five milligrams of hyaluronic acid sodium salt, as well as semi-synthetic glycerides. There’s nothing else to consider or worry about. It doesn’t contain hormones, and there’s nothing artificial or irritating to worry about.

My Experience Using Revaree Vaginal Inserts

What I personally liked about using Revaree is that it’s a vaginal insert that you put into your body right at bedtime. I’ve used other products that were cream-based, and they tend to get messy during the application process and throughout the night. Revaree was a very simple and clean product. They went in easy and stayed in place. I couldn’t detect that anything was there each night that I used one.

The Bonafide brand claims that it can take about 30 days to really see the full results of Revaree. I would say that I saw an improvement well before then, but it was probably about 30 days before I really felt a huge difference. My main issue was overall dryness, but that could occasionally lead to discomfort during sex. These symptoms were gone after the first month.

Cost and Where to Buy

I order Revaree from the Bonafide website, located at https://hellobonafide.com/products/revaree. The price is currently $62 for a single purchase, or you can sign up for a monthly plan, which brings the cost to $47. Don’t forget to see if your FSA or HSA account can be used for this product.

What Is Replens?

replens applicator

Replens is a hormone-free vaginal moisturizer that is designed to attach itself to any dry cells that are present in a woman’s vagina. It stays in place using a unique bioadhesive technique, allowing healing, and regeneration of cells to take place. The nice thing about Replens is that it only must be used once every three days. It works quickly, but it can also be used on a more long-term basis to promote healthier vaginal cells.

What's in the Formula?

Replens is made using ingredients such as glycerin, mineral oil, polycarbophil and palm oil glyceride. It’s a less natural formula compared to Revaree, but it doesn’t contain any hormones or overly synthetic ingredients.

My Experience Using Replens Vaginal Moisturizer

Replens was a product I liked because it only had to be used once every few days. Even so, these products are generally supposed to be applied at night, so it’s not a big deal for me either way.

I did experience a bit of irritation when I first started using Replens. I sometimes react to products that contain mineral oil, so that may have been the problem.

I did notice a change in my vaginal hydration after a few uses. I was using it every three days, and by the third day, the effects had worn off. I think a product that is used daily or lasts for a longer period is beneficial if you’re dealing with extreme vaginal dryness.

Cost and Where to Buy

You can purchase Replens online by visiting the websites of Amazon, CVS, Target and Walgreens. It can also be found in stores as well. This includes Kroger, Rite Aid, Safeway and more. The cost may vary a bit depending on where you’re shopping, but it generally retails for about $25.

Comparison Section of Replens vs Revaree

Though made for the same intent, Replens and Revaree are different in several ways. Let’s see how they compare so you can make the best decision for your health, wellbeing and budget.

Comparing the Vaginal Moisturizer Formulas

Revaree is based on hyaluronic acid, which is very natural and safe for most people. It simply helps retain moisture naturally. There’s nothing irritating or artificial in the formula for Revaree that should cause any kind of burning or problems.

Replens has a slightly less natural formula with a few different ingredients. As mentioned, it contains glycerin, mineral oil and more. This is more of a lubricating product that will add moisture on contact. I personally like the concept of using something like Revaree, which will provide you with more long-term benefits.

Comparing the Prices

The price of Revaree from Bonafide is significantly higher than Replens. However, I’m a big believer in you getting what you pay for. If you’re looking for a product that will provide you with safety, relief, comfort and quality, then it’s worth it to pay a little more for Revaree. Plus, you save quite a bit of money if you choose to subscribe to regular deliveries. This is a product that you can use on a more long-term basis, especially if you progress to a maintenance dose.

Comparing My Results: Which Worked Better for Vaginal Dryness?

I personally liked the effects of Revaree. While it does take longer to work, and it’s not an immediate-relief kind of product, it helps address the issues that you’re having with your body. If your vaginal tissue doesn’t have enough hydration, that’s something that needs to be addressed. The goal shouldn’t be to simply bandage the situation repeatedly. I liked using Revaree and still have it around in my medicine cabinet to this day.

What Are the Main Differences Between Revaree and Replens?

The formulas for these two products are very different from one another. Also, Revaree is used daily, whereas Replens is used only once every few days.

The time frames in which they work vary, but that’s for good reason. It takes time for your vaginal tissue to heal and become better hydrated when using Revaree from Bonafide.

Lastly, the price points are different. As we discussed, you’re paying a little bit more for a better-quality product. That’s always worth the investment, in my opinion.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to deal with vaginal dryness, irritation or burning. Sex doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. There are plenty of remedies available, including Revaree and Replens. Both are sold through reputable companies that have put a lot of thought and research into the development of their products.

My Recommendations

I recommend that you consider what you’re hoping to achieve with the use of a vaginal moisturizer. If you want to heal on a more long-term basis and reap the benefits of that healing, I recommend that you consider Revaree over Replens. However, Replens offers the convenience of only needing to be used every few days. It can provide faster relief as well.

Choose Revaree if…

  • You are looking for a product that helps heal.
  • You want a mess-free design.
  • You’re looking for a non-hormonal product that contains natural ingredients.

Choose Replens if…

  • You don't want to use a vaginal suppository
